A day-after wedding session in Eleuthera, Bahamas gives you the relaxed, unhurried portraits your wedding day couldn't. Here's why couples love it — and how to plan yours.

Your wedding day is one of the most photographed days of your life — and also one of the most rushed. Between the ceremony, the reception, the portraits squeezed into 45 minutes of golden hour, and a hundred guests wanting a moment with you, there's barely time to breathe.
That's exactly why I love day-after sessions.
A day-after session (sometimes called a "trash the dress" or "rock the frock" session, though we don't have to trash anything) is simply a portrait session the morning or afternoon after your wedding — in your wedding attire, fully relaxed, with nowhere to be.
Why Eleuthera is perfect for it
You're already here. You're in paradise. The beaches are quieter in the morning. The water is that colour that you can't quite believe is real.
Eleuthera's beaches — particularly the Atlantic-facing shores near Governor's Harbour and the sheltered Caribbean flats near Tarpum Bay — are almost empty at 7am. That means you, your partner, a stunning beach, and no distractions. Compare that to your wedding day, when there were 80 guests, a timeline, and a caterer asking questions about appetizers.
What a day-after session looks like
We typically start around sunrise or mid-morning for the best light. Depending on what you want, here's how a session usually unfolds:
• We start on the beach, relaxed. You've done this before now — you know each other, you know me. There's no nerves.
• We walk, we laugh, we go in the water if you want to (some couples do, it creates incredible images).
• We might move to a second location — a dock, a pastel colonial street in Dunmore Town, a grove of palm trees.
• The whole session is 1.5–2 hours. It feels like a morning adventure, not a photo shoot.
A note on dresses: many brides choose to go in the water or walk along the shoreline. Your dress will likely get wet and sandy. For most people, this is the best decision they made all weekend. For others, it's a hard no. Both are completely fine — we work with whatever you're comfortable with.
The images are different
I'll be honest with you: the images from a day-after session are often my favourite work. There's a quality of light and a quality of relaxation that's simply not achievable during a wedding. The timeline pressure is gone. The formality is gone. What's left is two people who just got married, standing on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, genuinely happy.
These images tend to look less like wedding photos and more like the kind of photographs that end up framed in your home for the next 40 years.
How to add a day-after session to your package
Day-after sessions are available as an add-on to any wedding package, or as a standalone booking for couples who eloped or had a small ceremony without full coverage. They're also perfect for honeymoon couples who want professional portraits without committing to a full wedding photography package.
Reach out through the contact form and mention you're interested in a day-after session — I'll include it in your custom quote.
Also worth considering: engagement sessions in Eleuthera
If you're planning to get married in Eleuthera (or anywhere in the Bahamas), an engagement session on a pre-wedding visit is one of the best investments you can make. It gets you comfortable in front of the camera, gives us a chance to work together before your wedding day, and results in beautiful images you can use for save-the-dates, wedding websites, and framing.
Eleuthera's beaches, colonial architecture, and local character make for stunning engagement photos that look completely unlike anything shot in the US or Europe. Couples often tell me the engagement session was actually their favourite part of their trip.
