I didn't plan to become a photographer. There was no moment where I sat down and decided this was my path. It happened the way most real things happen — sideways, through other people, and at the exact wrong and right time simultaneously.

## The First Camera
My older sister had a Canon digital camera.
I was in third grade when I first got my hands on it. I don't remember asking permission the first time. I just picked it up, pointed it at something, and pressed the button — and something clicked in me along with the shutter.
I became the kid with the camera. Every family event, every gathering with friends, every ordinary afternoon that felt worth remembering — I was there with my sister's Canon, making sure nobody forgot it. I wasn't thinking about composition or light or any of the things I think about now. I was just doing what felt completely natural: noticing moments and saving them.
That chapter ended when my sister broke the camera. And without a camera, the photography stopped. I didn't think about it much at the time. Life moved on.

## 2021 — A Rude Comment That Changed Everything
It was 2021. COVID had changed everything about how people lived and what they paid attention to. I had a new iPhone and I was doing what a lot of people were doing — going outside, looking more carefully at the world, photographing things I'd always walked past before.
For me, it was flowers.
I started posting them on Instagram. Nothing serious — just images I liked, things I'd noticed. Then one day someone commented on my page, something along the lines of: *"Is this all you post?"*
It was rude. It was dismissive. And it lit something up in me that I didn't expect.
Instead of deleting the post or going quiet, I felt something closer to determination. That comment — from someone who probably forgot they wrote it — was one of the sparks that started my career.
I started watching YouTube videos. Hours of them. Lighting, composition, editing, how to work with people in front of a camera. I absorbed everything I could find.

## The iPhone and the Cancelled Photographer
Not long after, a friend came to me with a problem.
His sister needed a photographer — her original photographer had cancelled on her. He asked if I could help. I said yes. I showed up iPhone in hand, no professional gear, no formal training, just the hours of YouTube and a genuine desire to do something beautiful for this family.
The photos I took that day were, by their own words, the most beautiful they had ever seen.
They asked me to photograph their wedding.
I had to say no — I had work I couldn't get out of. I think about that a lot. Not with regret exactly, but with the awareness that sometimes the door opens before you're ready to walk through it. The important thing is that the door opened, and I knew then that this was real.

## Why Weddings. Why Eleuthera.
I photograph weddings because no other kind of photography asks this much of you — or gives this much back.
On a wedding day, you are documenting the most significant moment in two people's lives. The emotion is real, the light is fleeting, and you cannot ask anyone to do it again. You have to be present, technically prepared, and genuinely connected to the people in front of your lens — all at the same time.
That challenge is what I love about it.
And Eleuthera — this island I'm from — is where I get to do that work. I know where the light falls in the late afternoon at Glass Window Bridge. I know which beaches are empty at sunrise and which coves the tourist maps don't show. I know the pace of this island, the warmth of its people, and the specific quality of golden hour here that I have never seen matched anywhere else.
Being a local photographer in Eleuthera isn't just a business position. It's a genuine advantage I get to offer every couple who chooses to get married here. I'm not arriving with a map and a prayer — I'm home.
